Designated Driving

DRIVE 4 U is dedicated to helping eliminate drinking and driving, and its Designated Driving program is a key component of its professional driving services.

Drinking and driving has become socially unacceptable, but somehow people still insist - to the general frustration of the police and the city officials - on driving after they have been drinking. Many people make different efforts: some people who go out in groups chose someone who will not drink that evening, known as the designated driver. While clearly a step in the right direction, this can be unsatisfactory... that's where Drive 4 U comes in.

Our Designated Driving service has a fixed rate structure of $45.00 to many locations within the city of Edmonton, and surrounding communities of Sherwood Park and St. Albert, and $70.00 for more distant communities such as Beaumont, Devon & Spruce Grove, $80 to Stony Plain, Fort Saskatchewan, Ardrossan and Leduc, and $110 to Morinville. These rates are applied when the drive originates in the city. If the drive originates in any of the communities the flat rate specified would apply for that community as though it had originated in Edmonton.

We also offer a Liability Prevention service, which will be of interest to anybody planning an event or party where liquor is being served. Our goal is to eliminate all liability from the organizers and planners, and create an atmosphere where partygoers can enjoy without having to worry about impairment. There two methods which are available to Event planners or Party organizers and each method is flexible and can be modified to suit the particular needs of the party. The first method (which is popular with larger company groups) is to have 15 passenger vans available to convey the party goers in both directions strategic pickup points are arranged for the initial ride and the vans are available during the evening to accommodate shuttle rides to those guests wanting to depart early. At the end of the evening the vans are coordinated to move the remaining guests all at once from the party and drive them to their residences or specified drop off points.

The second method is to have the latter part of the first method in place where the vans start on a staggered time frame and begin shuttling the guest to their residences and end the evening by removing the guests all at once from the party and drive them to their residences or specified drop off points. With this method the organizing party would be required to make arrangements for those individuals who drove to the party to have their vehicle moved at a later time by the designated section of Drive 4 U Ltd.

Each of these methods is an effective way of getting large groups of people moved from a party in a safe and comfortable way, while removing the liability of the organizers. Because safe transportation has been offered and provided, the responsibility is on the individual who chooses another way to get home.

At the end of the evening the guests will be returned to their residence by limousine: people going in the same general direction will travel together. This system of managing the movement of guests and their cars is the most effective as it leaves little chance for anyone to drink and drive, and removes the liability from party organizers .
